What you need
This no-bake recipe for chocolate hedgehog slices couldn’t be more straightforward… and you only need a few pantry essentials.
Butter is fine for this recipe. Salted or Unsalted Butter can be used.
Sweetened Condensed Milk Use Total Fat – not Skim.
Dark Chocolate- Choose any Dark Chocolate or Dark chocolate Melts (cooking chocolate). You can also use milk chocolate.
Plain sweet cookies (known as Cookies in the US). Arnott’s Marie biscuits are my preferred choice, but you may use any plain biscuit/cookie.
Desiccated Coconut is finely shredded, dried Coconut.
Walnuts — omit to make a Nut-free Version.
Cocoa Powder- Choose Cadbury Hersheys, Nestle, or Nestle.
Coconut oil or vegetable oil – optional. This helps to prevent the chocolate layer from breaking after it is cut up.

EXPERT TIPS
Hedgehog Slice is quick and easy!
Here are a few tips to make it perfect every time:
Line the baking pan with baking paper if you want to make removing the baked goods from the tin easier.
Why use full-fat sweetened Milk?
If you use full-fat condensed sweetened Milk instead of light or Skim, the slices will be set more firmly.
Can I make it nut-free?
Yes, of course! If you prefer a version without nuts, omit the Walnuts. You can replace them with sultanas or reduce the sweetened condensed Milk by about 50g.
Why add coconut or vegetable oil to the chocolate layer?
Adding a little vegetable or coconut oil to melted Chocolate will prevent the slices from cracking. This is optional, but it’s constructive.
