WHAT YOU NEED

Please scroll to the lower part of the page for ingredients and the complete recipe

All you require is five ingredients:

Butter – whether salted or salted butter is utilized.

Mars Bars are chocolate bars made by Mars with layers of caramel and nougat coated with milk chocolate.

rice bubbles (or any rice that is puffed); also known as Rice Krispies.

golden syrup is a trendy recipe ingredient for baking in Australia. It’s a thin and sweet, sticky treacle. If you cannot locate golden syrup in your local supermarket, you can use honey, corn syrup, and maple syrup.

Milk chocolate Choose high-quality cooking chocolate since it melts quickly when heated. I usually prefer Cadbury or Nestle melting chocolate or cooking chocolate.

Coconut oil and vegetable oils coconut oil or vegetable oil – this is an optional step. Still, adding coconut oil, vegetable oil, or both to melting chocolate makes the chocolate less difficult to cut after it has been set.

STEP 1 – MELT

Cut the Mars Bars into small pieces, mix in the golden syrup and butter, and then melt in a heatproof bowl in the microwave at a low temperature (or on the stove or Thermomix).

Note that the Mars Bars aren’t melted completely – they’ll remain a bit chunky, making the slice delicious in texture and flavor.

STEP 2 – MIX

Mix in the remaining pieces in the form of Mars Bar pieces and the rice bubbles (rice Krispies) and mix it all using the help of a spoon made from metal. The liquid will be able to cover the rice bubbles and create an extremely sticky mix.

STEP 3 – PRESS INTO TIN

The trick to getting the best Mars Bar slice is to apply the mix very firmly into a baking cut tin with a paper-lined rectangular piece (approximately 18cm by 22cm).

I would suggest either pressing the mixture down using the help of a round glass or placing an empty tin of the exact size on top and pressing it down until there are no loose rice bubbles.

STEP 4 – ADD THE MELTED CHOCOLATE

The chocolate can be melted by heating it in a microwave, over the stove (or in the Thermomix).

I would recommend chocolate baking melts since they melt faster.

Check out my suggestions to melt chocolate with the help of microwaves here.

STEP 5 – REFRIGERATE

You must allow the slice to rest in the fridge before cutting it.

If time permits, keeping it in the fridge for a night before cutting is recommended. If you’re short on time to cut, you should refrigerate it for at least 3-4 hours.

RECIPE TIPS

It is possible to melt the golden syrup, butter, or Mars Bars in the microwave or over the stovetop in A Thermomix.

Be sure to use fresh rice krispies or rice bubbles to ensure your slice is crisp and chewy!

It is important to note that the Mars Bars will not melt completely, but they will remain in tiny pieces – this is perfectly fine as it cuts its typical rough texture.

Press the mixture thoroughly into a lined and greased baking tray. The mix must be squeezed down very tightly to ensure it won’t fall into pieces as you slice it.

Incorporating either vegetable or coconut oils into the milk chocolate will allow it to avoid cracking when cut.

Put in the fridge to be set for at least three to four days (overnight is ideal).

Remove the slice from the refrigerator 30 minutes before cutting to let the chocolate melt slightly.

Use a tiny serrated knife to cut through the layer of chocolate and cut through the layers of rice.

WHAT ARE MARS BARS?

Mars Bars are nougat and caramel bars coated in chocolate. Mars manufactures them and can be bought from any grocery store.

HOW CAN I STOP MY SLICE FROM CRACKING AND BREAKING WHEN I CUT IT?

Check that the mix has been firmly pressed inside the container. Let it sit in the fridge for at least 3-4 hours (but it is recommended to leave it overnight). Then, take the slice out of the refrigerator and let it sit for 30 minutes before cutting. Utilize a small knife to slice into the layer of chocolate gently. Adding vegetable or coconut oils to the melting chocolate will help stop cracks from occurring.

ARE MARS BARS AND MILKY WAYS THE SAME?

They’re not. Mars Bars contain nougat and caramel layers coated with milk chocolate. Milky Ways are similar, but they do not include layers of caramel. If you like, you could replace Mars Bars for Milky Ways or Moro bars in Mars Bar slice (although my preferred version is made with Mars Bars!)

CAN I MAKE MARS BAR SLICE IN MY THERMOMIX?

Absolutely! Refer to the recipe cards below for the traditional and Thermomix techniques.

CAN YOU FREEZE MARS SLICE SLICE?

Yes! Slice the slice into pieces and place them in a sealed container for at least three months. To defrost, take it out of the freezer and put it in the refrigerator for at least an hour or until the frozen portion is gone. If you’d prefer to eat it, you can also eat it straight from the freezer to enjoy a tasty sweet, cold summer treat!

CAN YOU ADD MARSHMALLOWS TO MARS BAR SLICE?

I like the idea of adding mini marshmallows to the Mars Bar slice. Cut marshmallows into small pieces, or use mini marshmallows to stir them through at the same time as rice bubbles (rice Krispies). Make sure that the marshmallows you use aren’t large enough that it’s simple to cut the slice into pieces.
